Smarter Campus Life at Al-Hikmah University

Earlyon Technologies Ltd revolutionizes campus life at Al-Hikmah University with the implementation of its Smart Identity Verification and Attendance Management System (Smart-IVA).

Al-Hikmah University is a prominent, Islamic faith-based private university located in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Established in 2005 by the Abdur-Raheem Oladimeji Islamic Foundation (AROIF) and World Assembly of Muslim Youths (WAMY), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, it is the premier Islamic Private University in Nigeria. Guided by its motto “Learning for Wisdom and Morality,” the University combines rigorous academic programmes with a strong emphasis on character formation, spiritual growth, and ethical conduct. With a growing student population across multiple faculties and residential hostels, the institution continues to prioritise both educational excellence and the moral development of its students.

For Al-Hikmah University, like most institutions, lecture attendance is fundamental to academic development, but managing it manually creates significant challenges. Paper attendance sheets are time-consuming, prone to manipulation through proxy signing, difficult to collate at the end of a semester, and place undue stress on lecturers who must manually compute attendance percentages for continuous assessment and examination eligibility. Similarly, as a faith-based institution that values moral development, monitoring hostel residency and preventing unauthorized sleep-outs is critical. Manual roll-calls at hostels and canteens are inefficient, inconsistent, and lack verifiable audit trails, creating gaps in student welfare and security.

To address these challenges, Earlyon Technologies Ltd deployed its Smart Identity Verification and Attendance Management System (Smart-IVA) for the University in a first-of-its-kind for the institution. The solution is built around a multi-function, secure Smart Identity Card that serves as the single token for identification, lecture attendance, hostel access control and monitoring, and canteen monitoring. Unlike regular PVC ID cards that can be easily duplicated by roadside or business center vendors, the Earlyon Smart Card incorporates secure RFID technology and encrypted credentials that cannot be forged, ensuring only authentic cards are recognized by the system.
